Green purchasing

In 1998 we created an Environmental Purchasing Policy (Word document - 54KB) to make sure that we can work with suppliers to ensure green purchasing.

As a supplier, your contribution and your environmental performance has a major influence on our environmental impact.

We believe that suppliers who effectively embrace environment concerns are making an investment which will provide a long-term competitive advantage.

This advantage will come primarily as a result of reduced costs and the supplier's ability to differentiate on the 'environment'. As customers become more environmentally demanding, those suppliers who have already embraced the environment will have the advantage of 'getting there first'.

Ultimately, we would like our supply base to be one hundred per cent environmentally committed. We have added criteria to our selection process to evaluate the element of suppliers' quality systems that are linked to continuous environmental improvement.
