Review of Public Administration (RPA)

The Review of Public Administration was set up by the Northern Ireland Executive in 2002 to help modernise and reform the public sector.

As part of the review, the number of councils in Northern Ireland will be reduced and they will
be given extra responsibilities and powers.

These changes should help councils to engage more with local communities and meet their needs at a local level. Councils will also be able to provide high quality services that are more efficient and effective.
