Renovation

A house must comply with standards to ensure it is safe for you to live there. If you own and live in a house which is unfit for occupation, you might be entitled to a renovation grant.

The grant covers damp proofing, chimney, guttering, plasterwork or roof replacement and electrical rewiring. If you carry out the agreed renovation work, this will make the house fit for occupation.

The maximum grant paid is £25000. The renovation work is completed and inspected by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive before the grant is paid.

The grants office in the Northern Ireland Housing Executive can advise you further on making an application.
