This guide is for property owners, developers and architects or designers when making an application to us for Building Regulations approval to carry out work to a business property.

Guidance note 6: Applying for a regularisation certificate (for work already done to domestic properties and other buildings)

The regularisation procedure allows us to inspect unauthorised building work. If the work meets building regulations, we will issue a regularisation certificate.

Guidance note 9: Roof-space conversions: Converting your attic storage space to extend your home

You must apply to us for Building Regulations approval to convert a roof space or attic if the work will add an extra bedroom (maybe also with a bathroom), a playroom, a study or office, or a floored storage area.

Guidance note 10: Domestic garages

Under the Building Regulations the term `domestic garage` includes a carport. The garage or carport can be either attached to or detached from the home.
